Ludhiana, 8th December, 2011: ‘Idea ‘Junior Championship League’, an inter-school sports championship, conceptualized by IDEA Cellular, came to a grand closure in Ludhiana. The unique championship aimed at identifying and recognizing the best sporting talent from across 72 schools in Punjab, concluded at an exciting event here today.
The Ludhiana zonal finals, held at Guru Nanak Sports Complex, Rakh Bagh, Ludhiana saw students from Guru Nanak Public School, Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Shamrock Christian School, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Shri Guru Ram Rai Sr Sec School, Saraswati Modern Sr Sec School, Tagore Public school, etc. compete against each other in 9 major Athletics categories comprising of Individual and Relay Races, Long Jump, Shot Put, Javelin Throw, Volley Ball, Hockey, Judo, etc.
The finalists selected from amongst 13 schools in Ludhiana competed with each other with full energy and excitement. Winners in each category won trophy from Idea and all the other students who participated also won certificates from Idea.

Idea Cellular also gave the young sports stars of Ludhiana schools, a chance of getting coached by national level coaches in various sports categories. Senior national level coaches from Punjab Sports Department guided students about international rules,

strategies, equipment and techniques in 9 major Athletics categories as part of Sports promotion campaign, during the second phase of the championship league.
During the selection level, athletes/ teams were selected from schools through trials held within the school campus. These students represented their respective schools in this Mega Inter-School Sports Competition, today.
Over 3,000 young sporting aspirants from 72 major schools in 6 cities of Punjab got to participate in the ‘Annual Inter-School Sports Championship’. ‘Junior Championship League’ program reached out to 6 major cities of Punjab Tri City (Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula), Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda and Amritsar and included many games like races, Long Jump,  Shot put, Javelin Throw, Volley Ball, Badminton Singles, Hockey, Judo, etc.
The Grand Finale was divided in 2 days. The first day, Prelims were held and the second day had all Finals of all the Games, followed by the Cultural Program including a rock concert by ‘Swastik’ band.
With this pioneering effort, Idea became the first brand in the telecom category to focus on building brand awareness amongst this nascent and high potential segment.
